End of Year List: Top 25 Records of 2011

As the final moments of 2011 are coming to a close, I decided to post my favorite records of the year. It was probably one of the most incredible years for music I can remember in a while. The amount of quality records that came out spanning all genres from the very beginning right thru to the end of the year have been just amazing. I’ve been doing lists like this for quite a few years now, and I truly believe that this was the hardest ones to put together. Not just the order, but the artists to include. I had wanted to consolidate it down to a “Top 25” list, and as I was jotting down records in my notebook I was at nearly 50 before I knew it. So I really tried to think about what records really stuck with me. Some may have been ones that I was not initially in love with, and had grown on my over the year. Other records may have been such a part of my overall soundtrack for the year that there wasn’t even a question they belonged on the list. And then there were also many right on the cusp of this “Top 25” that may have at one point in time or another been included in this list without question.  So this is just what really hit me most most overall by years end.

Earlier today Ryan Adams released the first track from his forthcoming record “Ashes & Fire” I was incredibly excited to get into this new track, and it definitely has that vintage Adams sound to it.
